FROM FIELD TO TABLE – Rice

 

Rice seedlings are planted in well irrigated, moist land. Often near lakes and wetlands in Thailand. 

November through January, rice is harvested by hand with sharp scathes. 

Rice stalks are bundled and ready to be sorted. 

Bundles are shaken and rice is loosened from the stalk. 

The rice grains are laid out and ready to cleaned. 

 

 

 

Once outer layers of the grains are removed, they  are sorted by hand and ready to be packaged.
